Our Club Instructors

Tuesday Training Evenings.
During British Summer Time, Tuesday club evenings are also ‘Training Evenings’. The club has a couple of training aircraft that we use to provide initial trial & training flights. This gives potential members the opportunity to experience R/C flying ‘first hand’ before committing to joining the club & purchasing their own aircraft. We have a wealth of experience at the club and can provide plenty of advice regarding choice of aircraft & equipment. So come and meet us, have a fly, and enjoy the social atmosphere, all before purchasing your first aircraft. A small donation of £2.50 per flight helps us to cover the cost of fuel and maintenance.
After 3 training sessions we would expect people to know if they would like to continue and become a full member of the WRMC.
Training at other times is available by request – please contact a committee member.
Instructors
A Registered intructor must pass a test in front of an examiner to demonstrate that he has the knowledge and ability to train future pilots. He is then awarded a certificate by the BMFA. A Club instructor is a pilot who can demonstrate to the club members that he can help and assist a future pilot to learn the basic aspects of flying. This is recognised by the BMFA and a certificate is issued.
Examiners
A certificate issued by the BMFA to recognise that the member has the ability, knowledge and the trust of the club members to be able to test the club members for the ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificates. This certificate is issued after the pilot has demonstrated his ability and knowledge in front of an area examiner.
Assistant
Any pilot holding the minimum of an ‘A’ certificate who is confident and capable of assisting a trainee pilot when there are no instructors available. Assistance is usually given by buddy box system, in special circumstances be by single transmitter. The assistant must stay with the trainee pilot until the end of the flight.
‘A’ Certificate
A certificate issued by the BMFA to recognise that the pilot is confident and competent enough to fly unassisted at a club site. This certificate is issued after the pilot has been tested by a club examiner and can demonstrate that his or her flying is up to the required standard and that they have knowledge of the safety and rules contained in the BMFA handbook as well as club site rules.
‘B’ Certificate
A certificate issued by the BMFA to recognise that the pilot has reached a higher standard and is able to fly demonstration flights at public events and enter public competitions. This certificate is issued after the pilot has demonstrated his ability in front of 2 examiners and he has a greater knowledge of the safety and rules in the BMFA handbook and the club rules.
‘C’ Certificate
A certificate issued by the BMFA to recognise that the pilot has exceptional skills when flying aerobatic manoeuvres. He must demonstrate his skills through a gruelling aerobatic routine in front of 2 examiners to gain this certificate.
